July 9, 2006 at 23:35,   Rico N said: I predicted the time of the 1st goal scored in the 7th minute. Whats the bonus prize?
July 9, 2006 at 21:31,   Rico N said: Take away the phantom leap and the bogus offside call and Italy wins 2-0 !!!!!
July 8, 2006 at 10:49,   Rico N said: Italia vs Francia Defence: Buffon is regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in the world and he is playing on top of his game. Bartez on the other hand is considered not a good goalkeeper who soley relies on the French defence and midfield. Edge: Italy As always the best defenceman in the world are Italian. When Maldini played, he was the best in the world, maybe the best ever. When Nesta is healthy he is also considered the best df in the world and Cannavaro is quick, fast and amongst the best defencemen in the world and he is playing better then any other defensemen in this cup. Silvestre is good as well, but I'll take Cannavaro over him anyday. Edge: Italy Overall: As always, its almost impossible to score on the Italian defence. They are easily the best defence in the history of world cups. France who has won a world cup and eurocup has a proven defense who is really tough as well, but since Buffon is way better then Bartez, the Italians have the better defence overall. Edge: Italy Forwards: Luca Toni scored more goals in the toughest, most physical league in the world while Henry might be the best striker in the world period. But outside of him, the strikers on France never score goals. Edge: France Midfield: Zidane is one of the best midfielders ever and he is playing like he wants to go out on top while Viera and Thuram provide depth. The midfield is where the Italians of 06 have improved their team. Totti is making great passes, Pirlo, and Zambrotta are playmakers, have both scored and are playing great defence. De Rossi comes back in the final and can also contribute aslong as he doesnt elbow anybody in the face. Edge: Italy Offence: Italy has playmakers to pass it and anybody on the team can score a goal to win a game. France has a great combination in Zidane and Henry, but they can also have a tough time scoring at times as they went 4 straight games without a goal and if not for a bad call, they wouldn't have scored on Portugal. Edge: Italy The last 2 times these teams met, both games were close and could have gone either way but France came out on top. In World Cup 98, the game was scoreless and France, the hometeam won with penalty kicks. In Euro 2000, Italy was about to win 1-0, when France got a goal in stoppage time and the rest is history. Now its 06, France is older and not as good as the French teams in 98-00. Italy on the other hand, with the emergence of their midfield is better than they were in those years. Put together the young improved Italian midfield, with still the best defence in the world versus a aging French team with a clown for a goalkeeper and Italy should win this World Cup. Prediction: Italy 2, France 0
July 6, 2006 at 19:49,   le garçon Nicolas said: can we get any more points now? (i need to know cos i'm joint first in my league haha!) i predicted italy in the final but not to win it. i'm actually going to support france in the final but i'll be happy either way. saludos desde el rio de la plata xx
July 6, 2006 at 17:36,   D.Fletchall said: Its almost over. A couple of thoughts to throw out. First..Portugal & England. Nice choke job..literally, by England. Dont take this as bashing or malice against England. I picked them to make it to the finals. They're loaded. Why cant they ever pull off the big win? Germany...hail Deutschland! What an effort by a team with very little "star power". If Ballack had been able to raise the level of his play things may have worked out for the home team. France...what can I say. WOW!! Way to come on late. And finally..the Azzuri. Great job throughout the knock-out stages. It was cake for them in extra-time as the Germans had no energy. The winning shot & DelPiero's icing goal were just beauties. I really think the Italians have a great shot at winning it all. Somehow they just look tighter, stronger than France. What fun its been. Thanks for the invite Fox, it was well worth the time. Oh and PS, how bout' laying of team USA. Who ever said they were any threat anyway? Give'em a break. The US will be back. Just like the rest of the outcasts in '06. Again, had a great time. Good luck to all in your worldly endeavors!! Skol!!!!
July 6, 2006 at 00:20,   Andrew said: France over Italy I think. But should be a great game.
July 5, 2006 at 19:28,   Rico N said: I predicted an Italy-Portugal Final and I am probably the only one who picked that. However, I would really like to see Italy pay back the French Fries for the goal they scored against us in Stoppage time in Euro2000 and the penalty shoot out in 98.
July 1, 2006 at 22:14,   Anewego said: meanwhile, italy looks more in groove than anyone, and i will tell you that this world cup belongs to the defence. SILENCE THE CRITICS
July 1, 2006 at 22:12,   Anewego said: right on rico my sentiments exactly. people need to start watching with their own eyes instead swallowing what people tell them. by bye brasil!!
July 1, 2006 at 22:03,   Rico N said: Brasil is overrated... thgey are not the best team in the world.... hardcore manly Defence teamsalways beats soft little girly offensive teams... Fifa ranking can go to hell.....and all you duummys who picked Brasil now look stupid
June 30, 2006 at 22:21,   le garçon Nicolas said: well well, argentina's out. this place is no fun today
June 28, 2006 at 03:46,   Andrew said: Hey Laura, I'm not in 29th any more... I'm moving on up. (14th currently) :)
June 25, 2006 at 05:16,   le garçon Nicolas said: not a very good idea billy, as wales would dominate it each time round ;)
June 25, 2006 at 00:10,   Billy Rahem said: You know what should happen? A world cup for teams who can never make it to the world cup. It will be like a division 2 world cup. ???? Yoy never know right.
June 24, 2006 at 21:09,   Laura said: Yeah, except football doesn't get money in Bermuda - dopey cricket does :( I just like that I'm beating my brother - Andrew who is currently down in 29th in this league :)
June 23, 2006 at 13:41,   Fox Salehi said: Go Laura, go Laura... if only Bermuda could qualify, they'd win it all...
June 23, 2006 at 13:28,   Fox Salehi said: I have 2 tickets to the Brazil Ghana game in Dortmund. I was hoping for Brazil Italy, oh well. It should be a thrilling affair.
June 23, 2006 at 07:26,   Rico N said: Ghana does have a good goalkeeper and lots of speed. I think they match up with Brazil really good. They have more of a chance of beating Brazil, then Australia does of beating Italy
June 23, 2006 at 00:18,   Anewego said: Forza Italia Ghana WILL beat Brazil
June 21, 2006 at 23:32,   Rico N said: Brazil won't win the Cup on European soil
June 20, 2006 at 03:05,   Rep said: 10th, not bad. :)
June 18, 2006 at 15:12,   thesafestplace said: Cheers Fox, can't see it continuing though, I'm going to get very few points from the second round as things stand....
June 17, 2006 at 23:19,   Fox Salehi said: Good to see my friend Safestplace leading and my fellow star strikers Dean W and Ryan all near the top... everyone can be quiet about the USA now.
June 15, 2006 at 01:58,   Billy Rahem said: I hope england beats trinidad 2-0, Because iam succking on the leader board
June 14, 2006 at 23:29,   ShamanTT said: Now for the greatest match in our history... T&T vs England. Let's pray that cable TV works between 12 and 2 PM here. As for the score...if you believe, anything is possible.
June 14, 2006 at 09:42,   Fox Salehi said: No offense to Texans in general, I love Texas esp. San Antonio, but I think we should share it (and the other border states) with Mexico ;) plus Texan women are gorgeous.
June 14, 2006 at 09:41,   Fox Salehi said: No probs Jamie, I think America lost BECAUSE Bush called Arena before the game. It just threw him off to have such a warmonger-er speaking Texan in his ear right before kick off, and he accidentally put Beasley on the wrong wing. Had nothing to do with Rosicky's magic. I have Rosicky on my team for the other fantasy game I'm playing :-) We (Filipskis and Salehis) may live over here, but lets say we're not big fans of the current establishment, and that's the understatement of the century. Quote (Alex Ferguson): "If it had gone in, it would have been a goal..."
June 14, 2006 at 09:37,   Fox Salehi said: Stef I hope you're right, truly, cause I have two tickets to Dortmund to see the winner of the Brazil group (THANKYOU Kaka) versus the runner up of the Italy group (come on Czech, get a better goal difference than Italy and then draw with them!)... I want it to be Italy Brazil and I want Italy to destroy them in a 5-3 classic in extra time. Well, I can but dream. Anyway, don't count out the Germans, I think Klinsmann and Van Basten will prove to be the best coaches in the tournament, which vindicates their free-flowing attacking style, their unusual methods, and their youth. I want a Holland Italy final. ORANJE! Yus, you're right: Nesta AMAZING, Cannavaro, Buffon, Totti, Gila, Pirlo, LUCA TONI baby... great job Korea, poor Togo. Great job Switzerland. Ivory can still go through if they beat or draw Holland (gulp) and Holland beats Arg, but we need Serbia to shut down Argentina... and beat them.
June 14, 2006 at 09:32,   Fox Salehi said: You never know, the Swiss are very tough. Everyone's criticizing the big teams... but none of them have lost. Even France and Sweden got points and are still very much in contention. England, Portugal, and Brazil grind out 1-0 wins against very tough opposition, and their respective presses lynch them :-) A win in a world cup is always a victory, and to diss teams for winning is to disrespect Croatia, Paraguay and Angola, who were all top notch and very tough to beat. Same for Germany and Italy... they play like Brazil and wow the world and the Germans criticize them for not being defensive and German/Italian enough. Best teams so far - for me - to watch - are Germany, Holland, Portugal and Italy. A European team will win this year (they always do in Europe), and it could be anyone. This is DEFINITELY my favourite tournament I have ever seen, so far.
June 14, 2006 at 04:15,   Arnaud Lambert said: Switzerland should have won. I don't mean scoring with the hand, but let the ball go and let the Djoubou score behind him, but nevermind. France is not going anywhere again.
June 13, 2006 at 23:37,   Avantéix said: yeah France is back!!! it's like the old days all over again... but these are the bad ones of '02 not the good ones of '98... man still haven't put the ball in the back of the net in a WC since the '98 final... *shake head in disbelief*
June 13, 2006 at 22:34,   ShamanTT said: Bruhahahaha! I saw 10 minutes of France vs Switzerland....but it appears it was the only 10 minutes that France played quite well. No matter... they will still find a way to lift the cup.

June 13, 2006 at 19:34,   Fox Salehi said: That's really nice Jamie. Brandi's my girlfriend's daughter and she doesn't know much about football, she's just playing for fun. There are some people who still see football about fun, and not about war and ultra nationalism. You have France winning the World Cup. After what we just saw, that's more of a stretch than England going out in the group :)
June 13, 2006 at 18:02,   jamie scarborough said: that was nasty sorry but i looked at your predictions and you had us knocked out in round 1 thats not happening we may have been poor but we will improve dont worry plus when you are knocked out george bush will have to follow someone you can be our bitch for a change

June 13, 2006 at 13:03,   Stefan Noble said: The best matches have definately been the west africans versus the established names, ivory coast where amazing and if a were a more fickle man i would be swiching allegiances to cheer them on, still think they might beat the dutch for second spot, which sucks as neither of the tangerine dreams deserve to go so early. was pleasently suprised by the italians, all this talk of them being duller than a big brother house full of alan shearers they were full of flair, rekon the czecks might pip them to top spot though, czech republic v italy looks like potentially one of the pick of the group games
June 13, 2006 at 12:51,   Stefan Noble said: Ahmad - the germans through us curveballs we all know how it feels we hold the cards weve given and denounce he who deals, but being able to belt the new addidas beachball forty yards against my beloved costa rica does not make them potential england slayers should they meat in the second round. there defence is less pacey than a stoned sloth in quicksand and if wonderful wanchope can bag a brace against them (who despite being trikier than a paul daniels magic set is also slower the builders of the new wembley stadium) than rooney and will give them that will write the sun newspaper headlines for years to come. thats if sven doesn't sub all the attackers for hargreives at half time...(anyone notice svens hargreaves by stealth tactics against paraguay, he waited until everyone had fallen asleep following his eleven men behind the baqll strategy and than whipped him on for englands only creative player in the second half).......

Shaka Hislop man of the match! England will have to raise their game significantly to deal with them. What a great World Cup, what a great stadium in Dortmund. Now... we turn to the Elephants... can they defeat - or draw - the mighty Argentinians??? COME ON ELEPHANTS! and congratulations to the lovely lass from Deutschland, CHRISTINE NOBLE, a good friend of mine who is leading our league, along with players from Namibia, Western Australia, Newcastle England (hawaay man), and (?) the jungle of Borneo, Indonesia.
