The (geeky) World Cup Anthem
Well if you're an England supporter, as many of you are, you've probably heard the official Embrace World Cup anthem by now. Here's an unlikely competitor. A guy I went to college with called Ed Bolton, who starred in E4's Beauty and the Geek has put out an inspired competing song, with the title "We're Eng-er-land". You can

Quite enjoyed the song, my only criticisms are that it sounded like two blokes in a bathroom rather than a stadium of fans, and the last two lines of the chorus"but look at us we'll score a goal" were a bit wishy washy, wanted something more die-hard, like "when you think we're down we'll score a goal" or something like that to sum up the never say die attitude that we love so much. But overall a pretty good stab at a world cup song. 7/10.

Let's face it, its a rubbish song... but a brilliant shot at a world cup anthem. They're not supposed to be good songs at all! I thought it was better than that dreary embrace song which isn't really of chanting standard. This one is like those of the old days with Badiel and Skinner's three lions song. Thats proper British that is. Get that down ya! ...and we're gonna win, or at least give the illusion that we're gonna win!!! come on England!

wery wery gut, my english frrients!
Okay, from my german perspective it is somewhat a cheap remake of the song "football is coming home", just that the text isnt quite as good. What I noticed is that the worldcup song is more and more being commercialised, therefore I support any amateurish effort.
Just sad that we will make you leave the pitch and you wont be in the mood of singing!

good tune!
completely embodies the english football culture. a couple lines could do with rewording but apart from that its really good! it's the sort of song you can chant the chorus at the games, unlike embrace.
and as for laschnitzel, the only sad thing, is that you truely believe that you will win the world cup... didnt you read the lyrics
"were eng-er-land"!

Talking about anthems. Here in the States if you are a sentimental slob like me and want to hear the Anthems played before the games, switch to your Spanish channel 10 minutes before the game. You will get all the preliminaries,Anthem, coin toss etc. while on ESPN you get a stream of commercials. When the game starts, switch back to ESPN.
