Hull-abaloo

Sunday 30th June Scotland's Peter Hull is the World Cup Predictions Champion 2002! Brazil's victory over Germany won him 8 points which saw him leap into the lead with a massive 122 points. Nottingham's Daniel Trout, who had been there or thereabouts throughout the competition, ended up second.

Unlucky Emily Knight could have won it on the final day with a Germany victory but ended up third. Canandian Y.Y. Reid had a late charge into fourth while Wigan's Ali F was fifth.

Monday 1st July We caught up with Pete and asked him about his win:

What is your immediate reaction to winning World Cup Predictions?

I am absolutely delighted at winning the prediction league. Getting your e-mail this morning makes Monday feel like a good day!

How did you go about making your predictions... why did you predict Brazil to win?

The reason that I picked Brazil to win was that I thought after the last World Cup they had a big point to prove. After seeing Ronaldo in France 98 and his comeback I just had a feeling he would produce the goods.

Why do you think many of the favourites were knocked out early?

I think teams like France, Portugal and maybe Argentina thought their name would be enough to win - but football is not like that. The host countries were more up for it than the big names and it showed.

Who's your tip to win the World Cup in 2006?

My tip for Germany 2006 - Brazil or Spain
