2005 Archive: Fifth round

Keeping it in the family

A weekend of suprises in the FA Cup ended with second and third places occupied by Louise Mayer and Ralph Mayer, coincidentally the webmaster's Mum and Dad. Louise commented "Ralph and I use totally different tactics. He thinks hard and long about form etc, I guess based only on my understanding of the relative strengths of the teams in the 1960s."

Top of the table

Norwich City supporter Simon Baister of Colchester continues in pole position, although the gap behind him has closed to just two points after a low-scoring round for all entrants. Lee Fail led Sunderland to the top of the teams table, with a bevy of Barrys taking Crystal Palace into second.

Prizes...

There were so many draws in the sixth round that leaving all predictions as 0-0 would actually have scored you 15 points! Only Ralph Mayer and new entrant Deryck Whibley actually managed to surpass that tally, so they pick up bonus prizes for the round, the other prizes will be deferred until the sixth round!

Which of these is Deryck Whibley?

and surprises...

Only John Bingley, Edward and matt correctly predicted Sheffield Utd's draw at Arsenal, while Emily Knight, Andy McLelland and Nerijus were spot on for the 1-1 draw between Spurs and Forest. Just Alex Lauder and ashley predicted Brentford's 2-2 draw at Southampton.
