2005 Archive: Third round

Simple for Simon

Simon Baister is the leader of Fantasy FA Cup after the 28 matches played on Saturday. Simon, who supports Norwich City, scored 29 points, with six perfect predictions, three of which were 1-1 score draws (he should be playing the pools!)

It's a long way from Colchester to Louisville, Kentucky, but that was the distance separating first from second as Phill scored 28 points on the round.

David Ferguson and LuAnne take up third and fourth spots.

Saw it coming

There were some shock results: Oldham Athletic of League One beat Premiership Man City. The 1-0 scoreline was correctly predicted by Alan Wolfe, tim maiden, Mickey.P, Woofy Toby, colin dixon and cliff. Fifteen entrants correctly predicted Exeter City to hold Man Utd to a draw. United must now travel to Exeter's St James Park for a replay.

Toffees the sweetest

The teams table gives an interesting alternative to the Premiership. It shows the average score achieved by supporters of each club. Everton top the table with a 19.59 average, followed by Leeds United, Aston Villa and West Ham. As for the big three, Arsenal are ahead of Man Utd, who are marginally ahead of Chelsea. Bringing up the rear, Coventry City (last, with a 12.0 average) Plymouth Argyle, Wolves and Crystal Palace fans clearly need to do their homework.

Sunday service

There was little change at the top of the table after Sunday's matches. Stoke scored first but were unable to prevent Arsenal getting two back. The 2-1 scoreline helped James Bell into third place, his tedious tactic of predicting 2-1 for every match paying dividends.
