Barry bridges the gap again

Barry Bridges had undoubtedly the best performance of the 6th round. His tally of 25 lifted him 13 places to fourth, putting him right back in contention.

However Darrel Bryant of 6.84 maintained a slender one point lead at the top of the FFAC2000 leaderboard, after the four quarter finals had been played.

Breathing down his neck is early leader Daniel Bristow, himself just one point ahead of Andrew Taylor.

A large number of entrants scored 20 points: Daniel Bristow, Mark Farmer, Med Haynes, Dushal Patel (the 1997 winner), Richard Minnis, Philip Wallace, Kenneth Stewart, Karan Kent and Chris Daniels.

Staff entrants did noticeably badly, every one scoring 10 points or less.

At the foot of the table, Richard Mann continued his appalling run of form with a dismal 5, and Andrew Bunday moved into his customary last place.

Carbone hero and Villain

Everton 1
Aston Villa	2

Aston Villa are now just one match away from their first FA Cup final for 43 years after defeating Everton.

Villa struggled early on, but stole a goal after sixteen largely barren minutes. Merson drove the ball towards the far post from a corner and Ehiogu flicked it in.

Everton soon hit back, Moore chipping the ball past goalie Enckleman.

The third goal fell to Carbone, when Myhre parried Merson‘s shot into his path. However, his needless interference in a free-kick two minutes from time saw him sent off for a second bookable offence.
