| David lifts
the cup David Allen has won Fantasy FA Cup 1999 after a final weekend filled with tension. David knew that only a 2-0 win for Manchester Utd would result in him pipping Andrew Taylor to first place. It was only with the final whistle that the title was safe.
In the end, David won the competition with a maximum 20 points for the round and a record- breaking 114 points overall, two ahead of Andrew Taylor's 112. Alistair Cox took advantage of his 2-0 prediction to take third place, while Mr Cantor was top of the teachers in fourth. Bitter rival Mr Hopkins was banking on a Newcastle win for victory and eventually finished in seventh place. Robert Heap, Sam O'Hara and Anthony Cole were the other entrants to score a maximum 20 points. At the foot of the table, Andrew Bunday (pictured below) picked up his second successive wooden spoon. Ryan Keogh was unable to replicate his success in last year's competion, finishing in 33rd place, just 2 points from the bottom. |
Newcastle
sunk by sub SheringhamManchester Utd 2 Newcastle Utd 0 Manchester United completed a historic Double and put themselves in line for an unprecedented Treble with an emphatic victory over Newcastle United. In the ninth minute captain Keane limped off, but this setback proved to have a silver lining for Manchester Utd when substitute Sheringham slotted the ball through goalie Steve Harper's legs to go one up. Despite a combative performance from Newcastle, they rarely threatened and Man Utd's second goal from Scholes after 53 minutes helped seal the game. |
