Ruud awakening for Everton Newcastle Utd 0 Everton 1 Last year's finallists Newcastle Utd moved into the semi-finals again with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Toffeemen. Temuri Ketsbaia opened the scoring with a deflected thirty-yard drive. A superb shot from David Unsworth brought Everton level early in the second half, but a scrambled goal from Geordiadis, after a free- kick was parried by Everton's goalie, restored Newcastle's lead. A second from Ketsbaia and a goal from captain Alan Shearer brought joy to manager Ruud Gullit.
